” May all the spirits bless you, for the way you showed me a way through and all you taught me. Such a great gift I carry in my heart, every day. I owe you a new life.”
– excerpt from a letter we received a year after a this mans vision fast
This Spring we’ll guide our twelve-day fast in the southernmost mountainous region of Europe; Asterousia. This land steeped in myth gifts us with cave monasteries long inhabited by hermits and religious pilgrims, with the soaring wings of vultures, Cretan sun and the Libyan sea.
Throughout time and across cultures people have gone into the natural world to mark and celebrate significant life transitions. Vision fasts are modern day rites of passage that help navigate the complexity of these times; time away from the everyday, making space and to connect with deeper purpose and wisdom to carry through life.
At the heart of our time together lies a four day solitary immersion into nature, with minimal or no food – this is often a profound, deeply nourishing and transformative experience for people.
Whilst the solo fast itself will involve setting off alone into the stunning and varied local terrain, our base camp accommodation, where we will stay during the preparation and integration phases in a very small nearby village. We will have simple studios – all ensuite, with individual cooking facilities with everything you may need for your stay.
The village itself is characterised by the warm hospitality of a few locals who live there during these quiet times of the year and surrounding the village is the land where we will make our preparation and integration practices.
