SUMMARY:Becoming: A Rite of Passage For Our Times
DESCRIPTION:A six-week journey of transformation through rites of passage\, and kinship with people\, nature and place. With a solo experience at its core\, held through the power of community\, Becoming is the journey of initiation into who and what you truly are. \n🌀 Are you ready to embody your true nature and your full aliveness?\n🌀 Are you hungry for the call of something deeper\, wilder\, something real?\n🌀 Do you want to be guided by nature as you travel through life’s transitions? \nWe invite you to the medicine of time spent alone with the land – to the healing\, the deep knowing and the soul reawakening that this offers.\nWe invite you to step over a threshold bringing you closer to your own essence.\nWe invite you to reclaim your full and vibrant selves in connection to all of life.\nWe invite you to claim your own place in the lifelong journey of Becoming. \nThis is the practice of meeting Self through Nature. This is the journey of Becoming. \nWe can always choose to remember and inhabit our wholeness and our power. \nBecoming is a radical practice of reclamation and resistance – in a world full of business\, burnout and disconnect\, of peak extraction and pathology – we focus on slowing down to reclaim the wholeness that is ours. \n“What is the truth at the centre of the image you were born with?” \nThe Becoming programme \nThis is for you if you: \n– Are experiencing a moment of transition or change in your life that you want to mark\n– Need more clarity and directionality on your life path & want to let yourself be guided by your unique soul expression and contribution\n– Feel called to deepen your connection to nature and learn how to work with nature as a mirror and guide\n– Want to reclaim the ancient tradition of nature based rite of passage and ceremonial work\n– Feel that humanity is currently challenged and needs to grow up and take collective responsibility for our shared home\n– Are yearning for deeper connection\, full presence\, more aliveness and life purpose\n– Want to go on a journey together with a community of shared values\n– Need support in navigating the tumultuous times we are collectively living through. \nThe ground of wisdom: \n-Taking inspiration from the ancient traditions of Rites of Passage and Solo Nature time\, we offer a deeply human yet wildly devotional programme.\n– We hold interpersonal practices as key to the process\, and use somatic experiential support throughout.\n– We explore Deep Ecology\, Eco-psychology\, and Sacred Ecology as guiding principles.\n– We orient around the four shields model of human nature (School of Lost Borders) and eco-soul centric development (by Bill Plotkin).\n– We share in the power of Council – where we hone tools of collective process – deep listening\, speaking truth from the heart\, and harvesting collective intelligence.\n– We anchor in ritual – that which shifts the psyche by utilising movement\, symbol and somatic intelligence.\n– We use modern perspectives through ancient wisdom – the stuff that resonates in your bones and your soul!\n– We acknowledge and honour the indigenous wisdom in which all of this work is rooted – a widely pancultural tradition of humans communing with land\, the elements and the ancestors.\n– Our own lineages are rooted in Celtic and Germanic traditions\, and we gratefully receive and pay forward the teachings we have had the privilege to access. \nWhat you Receive: \n-5 live online Community gatherings on Zoom.\n– 2 guides trained and skilled in the areas of Vision Quest\, Rites of Passage\, Eco-therapy\, Somatic experiencing\, Grief tending & Community building.\n– Preparation\, support & guidance towards your one day Nature Solo Experience in a living place close to your home\n– Access to a rich online platform of stored resources and practices to use day to day\, and after the process has completed.\n– Input and references on the theoretical frameworks of deep ecology\, ecopsychology\, the tradition of rites of passage and the four shields model of human nature (School of Lost Borders)\, eco-soul centric development (Bill Plotkin)\n– A self organised buddy meet up to digest the experience together\n– An optional Signal group with all participants and facilitators to stay connected and support each other throughout the process\n– Optional one-to-one support session to really go deep with one of your guides. \n*** \n“Thanks to the well thought-out journey led by the two guides my heart was wide open when I entered into my solo time and what can I say: Now I have a deep felt sense for my true wild nature and my connection to the more-than-human world has grown sooo much more intimate\, it brings me to tears of love\, gratitude and so much relief.” \n– Stephanie \n*** \nThe Journey : \n🌀 First Community Circle\nWednesday 15th April 6.30pm – 8.30pm GMT\nGetting to know the group and landing in the topics of Deep and Spiritual Ecology. SUMMARY:Listening to the Sea in Ireland
DESCRIPTION:A four-day guided immersion on Sherkin Island’s north shore. \nAt the far edge of Sherkin Island\, where the Atlantic meets rock and sky\, there is a threshold of salt and stone\, a place that invites us to slow down\, arrive\, and be met. We return to an ancient rhythm\, where wind\, tide\, and breath find their own time. \nThrough gentle movement\, bare feet on sand and stone\, Atlantic swims\, dream tending\, and conversation with the island\, we slip into the deeper currents\, the underwaters of soul\, imagination\, and memory. The body begins to respond to what stirs beneath the surface. And what has long rested in the depths begins to be revealed\, and to come alive in us once more.

SUMMARY:The Sacred Quest
DESCRIPTION:The Sacred Quest for men and women is an invitation to pause\, step away from the noise of daily life\, and listen deeply to what is stirring within you. \nMany people reach a moment when they sense that something in their life is asking for attention\, renewal\, or change. For generations\, people have turned to the wilderness during these times of transition\, seeking clarity\, guidance\, and a deeper connection with themselves. \nThe Sacred Quest offers that opportunity. \nHeld in the quiet beauty of the Cascade Mountains\, this ancient rite of passage invites you to spend three days and three nights alone in the wilderness\, fasting and reflecting. Without the distractions of daily roles and responsibilities\, you are free to listen inwardly and reconnect with the deeper truth of who you are and what is calling you forward. \n• A 3-day / 3-night solo fast in the backcountry wilderness\n• The living presence of cedar and fir forests\, clear mountain lakes\, and natural springs\n• Time and space to reflect on your life\, your direction\, and the deeper meaning of your journey \nThe Sacred Quest is more than solitude in nature. It is a threshold of transformation – a rare chance to release what no longer serves you and reclaim the vitality\, clarity\, and authenticity of your wild and instinctive self. \nSometimes the path forward begins simply by answering the quiet call within.

SUMMARY:Summer Vision Fast - Blue Ridge Mountain
DESCRIPTION:This eight-day retreat functions as a Ceremony of Becoming\, allowing you to step into a more meaningful and complete version of your life with the help of nature and a small community of individuals. You are invited to leave your current life behind\, severing from work\, relationships\, household duties\, school\, social media and the everyday constant flow of life. You will find yourself in a beautiful wooded space set aside for spiritual retreats and journeys\, and enter into a guided ceremony where your perspectives and outlook will broaden and change. With your boundaries and walls becoming more permeable\, your essential questions are allowed to come to the forefront:\nWhat am I ready to leave behind? What am I moving into? What really is the point of it all? What do I have to offer this world? What is most essential in me that brings life and love? What do I need to let die so that a new life can be reborn?\nThere are 6 spots open for this summer\, and we are donation based\, asking participants to give what they can at an appropriate amount reflective of their life situation. LGBTQ+ community is welcomed and honored with open arms and hearts.

SUMMARY:Sacred Gestures - Wilderness Fast
DESCRIPTION:A nature-based ritual of passage dedicated to your soul’s unfurling\, centered around a 3 night fast in the wilderness. \nWe all come from cultures that practiced nature-based rituals and rites of passage. These ceremonies that were so vital to our ancestors have mostly\nbeen forgotten in modernity\, and the evidence of their absence is all around us in the lack of belonging\, lack of meaning\, and lack of purpose that so\noften defines our times. \nThe wilderness fast—commonly known as a vision fast in this corner of the world—is one of these ceremonies that thankfully has not quite been\nforgotten. Sitting alone in nature and holding vigil without food or shelter has been practiced in cultures around the world for millennia. \nThere are many occasions for a wilderness fast. It may be part of a rite of passage\, or it may be undertaken as a prayer\, a spiritual offering\, or as an\ninvocation for a deeper connection with the more-than-human-world. Sometimes it is a plea for a clarity of vision that cannot be achieved amidst\nthe hurl and burl of a busy modern life. Often it will contain elements of each of these things. \nNo matter your specific intention\, the common thread is this: a wilderness fast is a ritual passage into a deeper and more expansive life. It is the ceremonial ground where the little deaths that feed life are courted\, conjured\, and served. It is where that which is no longer yours to carry can\nbe released and composted so that your unique bundle of gifts can be seeded\, received\, shaped\, and honed. \nThe arc of this ceremony will follow the three main stages that are\ncommon cross-culturally for initiatory passages: \nSeverance \nSeverance is leaving your\nold life behind\, letting go of\nwhat cannot be\, composting\nhabits and patterns that are\nno longer serving you or your\ncommunity. On one hand\nthis begins the moment that\nyou say “yes” to this\nceremony\, but matters of\nthe soul are never simply\nlinear and “self-chosen”\, so it\nis likely that the severance\nalready in your life is what\ndraws you to this ceremony\nin the first place. \nSeverance often appears as\na rupture\, as everything\nfalling apart. A death\, an\nillness\, a loss of something\nthat cannot return (including\na dream)\, a growing loss of\nmeaning and purpose. We\nall experience severance\nmany times in our lives\, but\noften we attempt to hijack\,\nbypass\, or short circuit the\nprocess\, leaving us bereft of\nthe initiating medicine that\nis there for us to receive. \nThreshold \nIf severance is the leaving behind and the falling\, the threshold is the liminal space where in your hollowness and silence\, you\nmight just be able to see clearly who you are\, why you are here\, and how you are meant to serve Life. \nThe threshold in this ceremony will be sitting alone and holding vigil in nature for 3 nights without food\, shelter\, or distractions.\nThat which is waiting for you out there that cannot be found inside a screen nor can it be cultivated in comfort\, blind-habit\, and the\ndaily grind. But it has been calling you… \nReturn \nThe return\, also called Incorporation (literally the returning to one’s body)\, is what lies on the other side of the threshold. It begins when\nyou are welcomed back into your group to share your story and then have that story mirrored by your guides. \nYou will then be supported towards bringing your learning\, your gifts\, and your medicine back to your community in a good way\, in\na way that serves life. The return is a long process\, but you will leave this ceremony walking the first steps on the road to that integrated\nreturn. \nIn this powerful threshold space the veil between you and the otherworld is\, as an old Seneca proverb says\, as thin as the edge of a maple leaf. You are connected with what Irish philosopher John Moriarty called your bush soul\, and Martin Prechtel calls your indigenous soul. \nThis is meaning-making\, soul-centered\, and village-minded work. Your community needs you. The people coming need you. The people you come\nfrom need you. Mother Earth needs you. There is work to be done. \nThe time is now. \n**** \nFriend\, it’s time to make an effort\,\nSo you become a grown human being\,\nAnd go out picking jewels\nOf feeling for others. \n– Ansari\, 11th Century \n**** \nTHE FLOW\nThere will be specific practices offered in the months leading up to the program start date to root you into the fertile soil of this work. \nEvening 1 (Arrival + Orientation) \nDays 1 – 3 (Preparation)\nThe first days of this program will take place on a private 13 acre property near Lund\, BC. In these first few days together we will establish a framework\ncentered around the 4 cardinal directions and seasons\, giving us a shared language and map as we deepen into working with the medicine of story\n(myth)\, ritual\, poetry\, council circles\, dreams\, and embodiment practices in nature to crystallize your intention for the threshold time. \nDay 4 (Severance)\nOn day 4\, we will pack up camp and drive into the mountains\, where we will set up basecamp and you will find your vigil spot. That night we will share a final meal together and sit in our final pre-threshold council. The following morning we will say our goodbyes and you will be escorted out of your old\nlife and into the threshold at the place of your solo. \nDays 5 – 7 (Threshold)\nWilderness Fast \nDays 7 – 9 (Incorporation)\nAfter spending 3 nights holding vigil\, you will be reunited with the group\, welcomed back to basecamp with a hearty and healthy breakfast (and\nalmost certainly laughter and tears). Later that day we will return to the Lund property\, where a group of community members will have prepared a return dinner to further honour and welcome you back from the mountain. \nIn the final days of this program\, you will share your story and have it mirrored back to you by the guides\, and you will be witness to the stories of\nthe others. Using the framework and practices introduced during the first few days\, you will be guided in taking the first steps of returning to your\ncommunity with the threshold medicine you carry. You will receive practical tools and rituals to help you integrate the profound lessons of your time on\nthe land into the fabric of your daily life. \nLOGISTICS \nLodging: This is a camping program. Participants need their own tent\, sleeping bag\, and basic camping gear. The full equipment list for the\nwilderness fast portion of the program will be provided to registrants. There is nothing out of the ordinary needed\, and some gear may be available on\nloan for people coming from afar. \nFood: All meals are provided\, with much of the food coming from the very land that we are gathering on or the farm up the road. \nLocation: Lund is a 30 minute drive north of Powell River. Powell River is a 5 hour trip by car (including 2 ferries) from Vancouver. There is also a ferry to Powell River from Comox on Vancouver Island. Powell River has a small airport served by Pacific Coastal Airlines. The nearest major airports are in\nComox and Vancouver. \nCost: $1450 – $2500 sliding scale ($500 deposit) \nWe care a lot about making our offerings as accessible as possible\, and for our work to be financially viable we need there to be a mix of contributions\nacross the sliding scale. If you give more\, you support those who cannot pay as much to be able to attend. If the lowest end of the scale still does not feel possible for you\, or a payment plan would make it easier for you to attend\, please reach out. \nWe trust you to make a wise choice based on what is possible and realistic for you\, taking into consideration the value of the offering and all the work\nthat goes into it. As a guide we offer this: \nLow end of the scale: I am regularly not able to meet my needs\nMid-scale: I am able to meet my basic needs\nMid-high end of scale: I am able to meet my basic needs as well as\, for\nexample\, to go on holiday without worrying about it.\nHigh end of scale (or higher!): I have savings / own my house and would\nlike to share this abundance so others with less financial means can\nbenefit from this support. \nTHIS MIGHT BE FOR YOU IF: \n– You are in or approaching a profound life transition. For example:\n– Entering into a new life stage such as adulthood\, parenthood\, elderhood.\n– Going through a major relationship change.\n– Stepping out of the shadows of past wounds and traumas and into your gifts.\n– Entering into your vocation and claiming that title for yourself.\n– Stepping into the pursuit of your dreams.\n– Going through a major physical\, mental\, or spiritual relocation.\n– You are feeling called to live a deeper and more expansive life.\n– You are seeking a deeper connection with the more-than-human-world\n– You believe that you are here for a specific reason\, and that you have unique gifts to offer\, and these specific gifts are being either\nsought after or celebrated and affirmed in your life.\n– You are interested in an animist view of the world.\n– You are interested in village-building work and want to meet a community of people with shared values.\n– You are drawn to the works of Stephen Jenkinson\, Martin Shaw\, Martin Prechtel\, Clarissa Pinkola Estes\, James Hillman\, Bill\nPlotkin\, Steven Foster & Merideth Little\, David Abrams\, Michael Meade\, Sharon Blackie\, Tyson Yunkaporta\, Robert Bly\, Francis Weller\,\nMalidoma Some\, Sobonfu Some\, Daniel Foor\, Bayo Akomolafe. \nTHIS MIGHT NOT BE FOR YOU IF: \n– Everything in your life is going exactly how you want it to.\n– You believe that people with European ancestry have no connection to spirit\, soul\, culture.\n– You cannot hold paradox and differing viewpoints and opinions.\n– You are not aware of your trauma and your triggers\, or you are not at a place in your life\nwhere you can work with these from a place of curiosity as they come up.\n– You do not have a support system in place.\n– This work is likely to bring up challenges and this program is not a replacement for\ntrauma informed therapy\, friends\, mentors\, or community. A good support network is vital for both before and after this program. \nTESTIMONIALS \nTrevor and Carolin created an incredible container for journeying within; woven with\nmagic\, poetry and attention to detail. They were both prepared to meet participants in\nthe vulnerability this work requires and committed their time and energy towards working with every individual’s soul mission\,\nso we could make the most of our time on the mountain. \n-Jessamyn\, 30 \nThis program was an outstanding and meaningful experience for me. The nine day framework was perfect\, and the conscious ritual space created was surprisingly powerful. I recommend this work to anyone who is willing to get to know themselves more deeply. \n-Carsten\, 55 \nGUIDES \nTrevor Mervyn \nTrevor is a father\, a ritualist\, a storyteller\, and a wilderness fast guide. Trevor spent 20 years building containers of cultural belonging through\nmusic before a soul descent in the guise of a mid-life crisis at the age of 39 took him down and broke him open. With the help of a variety of\nteachers and guides\, both living and dead\, Trevor was gathered and remembered into a deeper life of ritual\, myth\, grief\, and reverence.\nSince 2021\, Trevor has been organizing culture-tending events in the qathet\, BC region. Some of these events include hosting Medicine Story\nnights\, Grief Rituals\, and Ancestor Feasts from his forest home\, as well as being a local host for storytellers and culture workers from afar.\nTrevor has studied at The School of Lost Borders (Vision Fast Guide Training) and Stephen Jenkinson’s Orphan Wisdom School. He apprenticed in Ritual Leadership and Storycarrying with ritualist Randy Jones\, and has attended immersions with storyteller Martin Shaw and The Animus Valley Institute. Trevor is trained in Dreamwork and Way of Council circle facilitation. In 2022\, Trevor completed an 18-month adult-initiation sequence that culminated in a 4-day Vision Fast.\n“My passionate curiosity around the intersection between ritual\, myth\, initiation\, grief\, and nature has laid claim to me. I believe in the sacredness of mystery\, and the deep wisdom of the more-than-human-world. I believe in the night.” Trevor’s recent ancestors come from Canada\, England\, Ireland\, Scotland\, and Germany. \nCarsten Hubert\nCarsten holds a German Master degree in Carpentry/Timber framing and is a mostly self taught artistic natural builder. He is a farmer\, a musician\, and a volunteer firefighter. His passion for nature and for living with the land is especially enacted through his farming of dairy goats and chickens using the concepts of regenerative agriculture.\nCarsten bridges his love of the natural world with a deep connection to the spirit world through repeated excursions into sacred geometry and geomancy\, as well as travelling with the shamanic drum and the MerKaBa.\nCarsten was drawn to wilderness fasting via his own intuition. At the age of 28 while in a time of personal uncertainty\, he went out to the\nforest and fasted for clarity and vision. Years later\, while at another one of life’s crossroads\, he again took himself out to the forest to fast. In 2024 Carsten found himself at another precipice of uncertainty\, and turned toward a guided fast for the first time\, learning the value that a container can bring to this work. Carsten moved from a small town in Bavaria/Germany to Powell\nRiver in 2006\, when he was 36 years old. All of his known ancestors\nare from that area in Bavaria. \nCarolin Goethel\n(To be confirmed closer to program date)\nCarolin was a co-guide for this program last year and she hopes to return for the 2026 offering. Her availability won’t be known until closer to the\nstart date as she is in the process of emigrating to the USA from Germany and her ability to cross the border next summer depends on the speed\nand success of her pending residency application. \nAssisted By\nErica Govier\nErica has a passion for holistic health. She grows and raises food and enjoys gathering people to share in that nourishment at her forest home in Lund\, BC that she shares with her partner\, Trevor.\nErica did yoga teacher training in India and has practiced Buddhist meditation. Her philosophy degree and deep interest in classic literature give her an expansive world view which is equally informed by her infectious joy and enthusiasm for life.\nErica’s recent ancestors come from Canada\, America\, Denmark\, England\, Germany\, and Scotland. \nMore info and registration here:\nhttps://sacredgestures.com/

SUMMARY:Wild Radiance: Soulful Kayaking Journey
DESCRIPTION:Wild Radiance is a sacred journey back home to who you truly are during these threshold times. \nHighly sensitive women\, non-binary intuitives\, and Starseeds often feel alone in an overstimulating world; yet you KNOW you are here now for a reason: to share the ancient power of your sensitive heart and soul. \nIt’s Sacred. It’s Wild. It’s Embodied. \nThis summer\, we gather to collaborate and soak in the ancient secrets of the Wild Feminine through adventure\, imagination\, and communion with the natural world. \nWe’ll apprentice to whale song in a week-long transformational adventure. It will help you transcend outdated paradigms\, awaken your courage\, restore your joy\, and reconnect to the power of your own body and the wisdom of ancient Earth elders: the Whales. \nWhales form communities (pods) that support survival through connection. Their voice and song are how they bond\, communicate\, and thrive. They are literally the voice of our Earth. \nThis is more than a journey; it’s a call for the sensitive ones to dive deep into their depths in order to rise.

SUMMARY:International Vision Quest | Findhorn Scotland
DESCRIPTION:Late summer Werner Pilz and Natasha Lythgoe will return to Findhorn to guide a quest on behalf of the Eschwege Institut one of the leading guide training institutes in Europe. \nYou can read about our programme at either of these links: \nhttps://eschwege-institut.de/programm/seminare/visionssuche-in-findhorn-schottland-5/\nhttps://www.theartofrewilding.com/events/vision-quest-scotland-uk-2026 \nIf you are interested in eco-somatics we may be a good fit for you. Here is an excerpt from my website about Embodied Animacy. \nThe principle of animism is a way of perceiving and engaging with a living and animate earth\, including all the seen and unseen beings that inhabit it. This alive connection emerges not through abstract thinking but through direct experience – rooted in our direct sensory experience – and a cultivation of reciprocal relationship. This is a participatory way of being\, where humans are just one among many expressive participants in the dynamic\, interconnected fabric of life. \nAnimism is a deeply\, relational way of being in the world\, encouraging us to remember that we are not separate from the natural world\, but are woven into the fabric of life itself. \nGene Gendlin’s Focusing method\, though often seen as a contemporary approach to self-awareness with its origins in psychotherapy and philosophy\, carries a similar invitation. On a very simple level Focusing is a somatic practice\, where we turn our attention inward\, tuning into the subtle\, unspoken language of our bodies. It is through this body-based listening that we find clarity and healing\, accessing wisdom beyond the reach of the mind alone. \nAt first glance\, these two paths might seem worlds apart—one rooted in ancient spiritual traditions\, the other in contemporary therapeutic practice. However\, a closer look reveals their shared essence: both call us to a profound\, deeper listening to life unfolding within and around us. \nSince 2019\, I’ve focused on creating practices that foster embodied relational reciprocity\, drawing on the Focusing method and nature connection. I integrate aspects of this work into the preparation stage for all our vision quests.

You yourself may be going through a life change: a new\njob\, aging parents\, kids leaving the home… \nThis is a moment ripe for change. \nWhat is this time asking of you? What is next for you?
