SUMMARY:Coming home to your wild self - UK
DESCRIPTION:” There is only one life you can call your own and a thousand others you can call by any name you want ”\n– David Whyte \nThis retreat is an invitation to step out of the busyness and distractions of modern day life into a deeper relationship with yourself and with the natural world. It will be an opportunity to slow down\, reconnect with who you are away from the demands of everyday life and with what matters most. \nWe will guide you through a restorative adventure\, in which you will build your capacity to trust in life\, connect with a deeper sense of belonging and befriend whatever the moment presents to you. \nTHE STRUCTURE OF OUR DAYS \n– Each morning will include mindful and embodiment practices followed by beautiful and connecting practices informed by Gendlin’s focusing method.\n– The afternoons will include nature-based practices and a sharing circle called Way of Council.\n– We will make space for digesting and resting each day so that you have time to allow the experience to land.\n– We have gorgeous wild swimming spots on our doorstep and our evenings will be spent gathering around a roaring fire under the stars. \nWHY COME ON A RETREAT IN NATURE? \nSpending time in nature immersed in awe-inspiring landscapes re-humanises us. Nature supports rest\, opening up to a bigger perspective\, and reconnects us with what matters most. At its core\, our work is about relatedness – how we relate to ourselves\, and each other with nature as our partner. It’s about exploring both our inner nature and outer nature\, and developing ways to accept\, be with\, and learn from each experience that life sends our way. \nWe heartily welcome a cross cultural and cross generational\, cross racial and sexual orientation community to gather. \nLOCATION AND LOGISTICS \nWe will be located in a secluded and private spot on the edge of Dartmoor. Surrounded by ancient oak forest and moorland we will also have access to cascading rivers\, wild flower meadows and boulder strewn bluebell groves. The air that comes off the Atlantic here is so pure that rare mosses and lichens thrive and it is one of the few dark sky areas left in the UK. You will not be disappointed! \nOur group size is limited to 8 participants to ensure an intimate experience. \nGuided by Natasha Lythgoe and Hamish Mackay-Lewis \nAccommodation will be camping for the majority so we encourage you to bring your own tents. For those few people willing to pay the higher price to support others there is the option of three beds in the cosy and beautiful converted barn\, which we may also use for group sharing in case of inclement weather. \nTo keep the costs down and to build a sense of community we ask participants to pair up and bring ingredients to prepare one vegetarian meal during the retreat. We will enjoy a hearty brunch (provided by Natasha and Hamish) and an early supper every day (provided by you) with access to snacks (bring your own) in between times. All food will be vegetarian and we can only accommodate food restrictions for severe medical conditions. \nFor more details\, photographs of our stunning location and testimonials please click on the website link here.

SUMMARY:Queer Mirroring Training: Reflecting Queerness in the Natural World
DESCRIPTION:Telling your story is a sacred art. As queer folx we have often been told that we are not natural and yet nature both reflects and celebrates the full spectrum of our identities. Sharing our stories and receiving mirroring can transform burdens into liberation and celebration. It is time to show up and be seen in our fullness to celebrate the value our unique identities bring to the world!

SUMMARY:Beholding the Human Story: a mirroring training and ceremonial remembrance
DESCRIPTION:As a Ravens wing implies the expansiveness of an open sky\, a Trouts slippery skin implies a cold mountain creek\, and an Acorn implies an Oak tree\, so do the particular textures\, nuances\, and absurdities of the Human experience imply a world of sensual play\, profound mystery\, and ecstatic wonder. \nWhat if there was a world in which the story of Human made sense? What if there was a world in which you – your body\, your wondrous senses\, your fears and joys\, your oddities and eccentricities\, the outer bounds and inner limits of your human experience – made sense? What a wondrous thing. And not only that\, but what if such a world was waiting for you to witness the stories of those whom you share this world with – to behold the beauty of the world – and be witnessed in turn? \nWe came into this world expecting to be met with deep connection and intimacy\, to fall in love with Life\, to be celebrated for our gifts\, our art\, and be asked to give our art back to the world. Beholding the Human Story is a ceremonial remembrance into a world where our stories belong to the world that birthed us and where our capacity to fall in love with and behold the beauty of other beings – Human and nonhuman alike – is radically important to our souls and to the Soul of the World. \nWho is this for? \nThis ceremony is designed to be accessible to all varieties of Human. No prior experience with ceremony is necessary. We only ask for a willingness to show up with the most courageous and compassionate parts of yourself. All other parts of you are welcome as well. \nWhat will we be doing?\nWe will be gathering\, camping\, and cooking together at a basecamp on Boulder Mountain\, and venture into the surrounding wilderness for several ceremonial walks into the land. Upon return\, we will share our stories with our community\, as well as learning to trust our own ways of witnessing the stories of others. \nNature awareness/embodiment activities such as tracking\, bird language\, and night-walks will be integrated into the week. \nHow is this different from a Mirroring Training? \nBeholding the Human Story is our way of inviting folks into the magical and wondrous terrain of ceremony and the particular way of holding stories known as “Mirroring” to folks coming from the Vision Fast lineage. Our offering differs from a Mirroring Training in a few ways – rather than rooting our teachings in the “Four Shields” cosmology which is traditional to this teaching\, we are working from the assumption that the magic of Mirroring/Beholding is innate to all humans\, and each human has their own way of tracking this intelligence – of bearing witness to and falling in love with the world. Our way of guiding others into this terrain is also inextricably somatic – we will be tracking\, dancing\, singing\, and embodying our way through the week. \nFor those unfamiliar with this term\, Mirroring is an essential part of a rite-of-passage ceremony\, a way of witnessing\, celebrating\, and midwifing stories into the world. Mirroring is tending the rich soils of death and life – compassionately holding the hand of that which is dying\, as well as welcoming the impossibly beautiful creature which is struggling to emerge into this strange and terrifying world and tenderly weaving it into the fabric of Life. \nWhat about reciprocity?\nThe Oak and Bone School operates on a gift economy. For more details on what this means\, please follow this link: https://www.theoakandboneschool.com/soul-of-gift\nor contact tamarix for more details. \nParticipation is limited to ten humans. Please apply by April 1st.\nFor questions\, details\, or to apply\, please follow this link: https://www.theoakandboneschool.com/apply-1\nor contact tamarix at\ntamarix@theoakandboneschool.com

SUMMARY:8th Wilderness Guides Global Gathering
DESCRIPTION:After two years of not being able to gather\, we are beyond excited to invite our global community together again at beautiful Bearskin Meadows in the southern Sierra mountains of California.\n\nAs we face the great challenges of climate change\, recovery from a global pandemic\, and the rising awareness of inequity on our planet\, we come together to ask “What new world is arising\, and what is our role as rites of passage guides in this extraordinary time of change?”.\n\nA good portion of time will be spent in simply re-connecting to old friends and making new ones\, to re-affirm our personal bonds as community and hear each others’ stories.\n\nAnd we will sit in Circle together\, play and dance\, speak to shadow and grief\, share our gifts via workshops and member offerings\, and vision together the future we wish to co-create. It is an opportunity to network and to be inspired and enriched\, both as guides and as supporters of this work.\n\n\n\nThe Andy Gardner Memorial Scholarship application deadline has been extended to April 30th.  This scholarship is specifically for partners of gathering participants that would like to attend the gathering with their loved one. To learn more about this scholarship and to submit an application link here: Andy Gardner Memorial Scholarship.\n\nThe date of equal consideration for general scholarships has passed. However\, if you would like to purchase a ticket\, but are in need of a scholarship\, link here to fill out an application and we will do our best to help out as more funds potentially become available.      Global Gathering Scholarship Application\n
